One method of recycling used cooking oil that we practice is harvesting the oil present in industrial wastewater. Food processing plants produce essential consumer products, but they also produce a lot of by-products that come out as oily waste streams. We operate a Dissolved Air Flotation, or DAF, water treatment process. In this treatment, tiny air bubbles are suspended into a water stream causing oil and other particles to rise to the top. This system is employed with untreated sludge, so everyone wins in the end!
