How Used Cooking Oil Recycling Works

How do I get started recycling my used cooking oil?

Ohio Processing and Recycling collects used cooking oil throughout Ohio. We pick up your used cooking oil for free. All you need to do is give us a call or submit a form online.

Tank Sizing and Pickup Scheduling

We’ll talk to you, assess your oil volume, size a tank with theft prevention locks and deliver it to your location, for free. You dispose of your used cooking oil in the tank. Let us know when it is ¾ full and we will pick it up. After a few visits we can predict your volume and may appear before it is time to call. In case of an emergency, give us a call 24/7.

Can I schedule a custom pickup?

You can certainly schedule a custom used cooking oil pickup. Big holiday seasons, or unusual volume can produce more oil than is typical. Just give us a call and we’ll pick it up as soon as we can.

How do I get paid for my used cooking oil?

If your restaurant produces sufficient quantities of oil you will receive a rebate. We pay rebates quarterly. You can also trade rebates for our grease trap cleaning services which may be a huge savings. Call us to find out how and what you can expect.

My current recycler is unreliable, how do I know you will be there to pick up my oil?

Ohio Processing is focused on you. Cooking oil disposal and grease trap cleaning for commercial kitchens are all that we do. We’re locally based in Ohio and available 24/7.

We are licensed with the state of Ohio and fully insured.

Records and Manifests

What records are required for used cooking oil recycling?

A used cooking oil recycling company must keep records of every pick up they make including: address, business name, volume, date and time of collection. These records ensure that the oil we collect is truly used cooking oil and merits the low carbon designation from the EPA. The EPA requires these records to be kept by the recycler and made available for audits.  If needed, OPR can provide them to you.

What happens to my used cooking oil after pickup?

Your used cooking oil is heated, filtered and processed in preparation for sale to a renewable diesel producer. That producer makes either biodiesel, renewable diesel or SAF (sustainable aviation fuel) all of which contribute to less pollution to slow global climate change. (UCO can also be made into animal feed.)
